Field Hockey Falls at FDU-Florham
MADISON, N.J.- Three goals in the first seven minutes scored by Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (FDU) proved to be the difference as the Wilkes University field hockey team lost a MAC Freedom match for the first time this season.
The Lady Colonels fell to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in MAC Freedom play while the Devils improved to 9-4 (2-1).
FDU scored in the third, sixth, and seventh minutes to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Wilkes got on the board in the 37
th minute when sophomore forward
Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) scored on a penalty stroke. Freshman back
Alysa Adams (Sweet Valley, PA/Lake Lehman) added the second Lady Colonel goal in the 49
th minute when she deflected a Surdy shot past the Devils goal keeper.
FDU finished the scoring in the 68
th minute.
Wilkes returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Widener University for a 7 p.m. non-conference match at Schmidt Stadium.
