Women's Soccer Dominates Delaware Valley for First MAC Freedom Win
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's soccer team played its most complete game of the season en route to its first Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom win of the season over Delaware Valley University by a 3-0 score Saturday evening.
The Lady Colonels improved to 4-7-1 overall and 1-1 in MAC Freedom play while the Aggies fell to 3-9-1 and 0-2.
Dianna Connor (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) got Wilkes on board in the 22
nd minute when she beat out her defender and chipped the ball over Delaware Valley's goalkeeper for her second goal of the season.
Ema Sabovic (Brodheadsville, PA/Pleasant Valley) extended the lead to 2-0 when she headed in a
Courtney Krasnomowitz (Hamburg, NJ/Wallkill Valley) corner kick in the 60
th minute.
Alyssa Shaver (Swoyersville, PA/Wyoming Valley West) scored her first career goal in the 79
th minute when hit a cross at a sharp angle from the right side into the net for the final score.
Wilkes outshot the Aggies 23-4 with a 12-1 advantage in shots hitting the net. The Lady Colonels also had a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) made one save for her third shutout of the season.
Wilkes returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Misericordia for a 7 p.m. MAC Freedom match.
