DAVIDS, PA – Host Eastern University jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the second half and held on despite a late Wilkes University rally to preserve a 2-1 MAC Freedom Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Auxilary Field. Wilkes drops to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in league games following the loss. Eastern, ranked 19th in the latest NFCA poll, improves to 10-3 overall and remains perfect at 4-0 in conference games. The game went scoreless through the first half and into the second frame before Macey Talhem scored for the Eagles at the 44:32 mark off a loose ball in the arc. Eight minutes later the Eastern lead grew to 2-0 when Alison Hoag scored at the post on a pass from Megan Bolton off a corner attempt. Wilkes cut the lead in half when Jenna Skrinak (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) scored off a rebound with just under twelve minutes left in the contest. From there, the Eagles defense held onto the one-point advantage to preserve the conference home win. Goalie Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made six saves in net for Wilkes while Eagles keeper Nicole Berger finished with seven saves picking up the victory.
