Women's Soccer Plays King's to Scoreless Draw
EDWARDSVILLE- The Wilkes University women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw after two overtimes against King's College in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
The Lady Colonels are now 4-8-2 overall and 1-2-1 in MAC Freedom play, while the Lady Monarchs are 5-5-2 and 1-1-2.
While neither team was able to score, Wilkes had the upper hand offensively for most of the game, outshooting King's 17-5, and 7-3 on shots on goal.
The Lady Colonels had the game's best scoring opportunity in the 61
st minute when
Nicolette Towlen (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) lined a shot past the Lady Monarch's goalkeeper and off the crossbar.
Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) made three saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
Wilkes returns to action Tuesday when it will host Eastern University for a 4:30 p.m. MAC Freedom match that will also serve as the Domestic Violence Awareness game.
