EDWARDSVILLE- Two second half goals by Misericordia University were the difference as the Wilkes University field hockey team fell by a 2-1 final at Schmidt Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Colonels fell to 9-9 overall and 4-3 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play with the loss while the Cougars improved to 8-9 and 5-2.

Wilkes got on the board in the 34^th minute when Keighlyn Oliver (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) drove to the net and laced a shot that glanced off of the goalkeeper. When the goalkeeper dove to clear the ball, Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) placed a shot just over and into the net for her 15^th goal of the season.

Misericordia came out strong in the second half, tying the game in the 38^th minute, and taking the lead in the 62^nd minute.

Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made eight saves in goal for the Lady Colonels.

Wilkes returns to action on Thursday when it will host Moravian College for a 7 p.m. non-conference match at Schmidt Stadium. The game will also be senior night, where the three graduating Lady Colonels will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
