Two Second Half Goals Lead Cortland State over Wilkes
Cortland, N.Y.- Cortland State scored two goals in the second half to defeat the Wilkes University women's soccer team by a 2-1 final at Cortland on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Colonels fell to 5-10-2 while the Red Dragons improved to 6-11.
Nicolette Towlen (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) got Wilkes on the board in the 15
th minute when she scored with an assist from
Emily Wirth (Vestal, NY/Vestal).
Cortland State would tie the game in the 58
th minute, and netted the winner in the 65
th minute.
Wilkes put forth an all-out effort in the final 1:20, lacing two shots just over the crossbar.
Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) made three saves in the first half while
Lisa Semetti (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) made three saves in the second half.
The Lady Colonels return to action on Saturday when they travel to Manhattanville for a 1 p.m. MAC Freedom regular-season finale.
