Metzger's Two Goals Lead Men's Soccer over McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, MD- Senior midfielder
Eddie Metzger (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) scored two unanswered goals in the second half to lead the Wilkes University men's soccer team to a victory over McDaniel College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Colonels improved to 3-8-0 on the season while the Green Terror fell to 2-7-2.
McDaniel got on the board right before halftime, scoring off of a rebound in the 45
th minute.
Metzger got Wilkes on the board in the 48
th minute thanks to a long blast that was mishandled by McDaniel's goalkeeper.
The senior midfielder netted the eventual winner in the 56
th minute as sophomore defender
Tyler Kukosky (Sweet Valley, PA/Holy Redeemer) launched a long ball on a restart, which Metzger was able to corral, spin, and fire into the net.
Freshman goalkeeper
Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) made seven saves in the victory.
The Colonels return to action on Saturday when they travel to Delaware Valley University for a 7 p.m. MAC Freedom match up.
