Wilkes Basketball Teams Open Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Schedule Against Eastern on Tuesday
WILKES-BARRE- The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams open their Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom schedule against Eastern University on Tuesday night at the Marts Center. The women open at 6 p.m. while the men tip off at 8 p.m.

Cara Basile (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) leads the Lady Colonels early in the season, averaging 12.4 points-per-game, good for 12
th in the MAC Freedom. She is also second on the team averaging 5.8 rebounds-per-game and is also averaging 1.4 assists-per-game.
Chelsea Smelas (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) is averaging 9.8 points-per-game while leading the team averaging 6.2 rebounds-per-game while also averaging 2.0 assists-per-game.
Catey McFadden (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) and
Haley Mesaros (Royersford, PA/Pope John Paul II) are tied for third on the team averaging 6.8 points-per-game. McFadden leads the team with 2.2 assists-per-game.
The Lady Colonels will look to end an 11 game losing streak to the Eagles that dates back to the 2010-11 season.
Eastern enters tonights game with a 4-1 record after defeating Messiah 72-56 last Tuesday. Junior forward Emily Lavin is coming off back-to-back MAC Freedom Player of the Week selections, and is almost averaging a triple-double I the early season. She leads the entire MAC in points (22.0), rebounds (13.0), and blocks (8.4) per-game. Her teammates joining her in the top of the MAC in scoring include freshman forward Reggie Robinson (17.6) and sophomore guard Taylor Price (15.8). Both also rank in the top-10 in rebounding, with Robinson averaging 8.8 per-game and Price averaging 7.8.
The Wilkes men's team enters tonight's contest 3-3 overall after falling to Scranton in the finale of the Cross-County Challenge by a 60-50 final on Sunday afternoon.
Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) leads the Colonels in scoring, averaging 13.7 points-per-game, converting a team-high 19 three-pointers. Wizar is joined in the top-17 in the MAC Freedom in scoring by
Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston), who is averaging 13.4 points on 41 percent shooting from the field to go along with 9.2 rebounds-per-game which is good for second in the entire MAC.
Marcus Robinson (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) is averaging 13.0 points-per-game early in his freshman season aided by 35 percent shooting behind the three-point arc and a team-high 14 steals.
The Eagles enter tonight's game with a 3-2 record following a 103-91 setback against Lancaster Bible College last Tuesday night. Eastern is led by junior forward Shaquan Turk, who is second in the MAC Freedom averaging 20.0 points-per-game on 55 percent shooting, and ranks eighth in the MAC Freedom averaging 6.8 rebounds-per-game. Senior guard Malcolm Garrison enters tonight averaging 13.8 points-per-game shooting 51 percent. Freshman forward Victor Peña leads the team averaging 7.0 rebounds-per-game.
The Colonels split with Eastern last season with each team winning on the road.
