With the defeat Wilkes slips to 9-12 overall and 4-8 in league play while DVC improves to 12-11 overall and 7-5 in conference play. The Wilkes offense struggled throughout the first half as the Lady Colonels finished with just three made field goals in the first twenty minutes of play. Delaware Valley took advantage of the cold start for Wilkes taking a 26-13 lead into the break. The Aggies stretched the lead out to as many as 19 points midway through the second half as Wilkes continued its struggles offensively. Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) scored 20 of her game-high 26 points in the second frame, but it wasn't enough to bring the Lady Colonels back from DVC double-digit edge. Stambone finished 9-for-20 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. She now stands just 79 points away from becoming the school's all-time scoring leader with three games left to play. Cara Basile (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) and Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) added six points each for Wilkes. Eireann Anastasi led DVC with 22 points, five rebounds and six assists. Kelsey Kilpatrick added ten points on three three-pointers. Wilkes returns home tomorrow (Sunday) when the Lady Colonels host Penn State Hazleton at 2:00 p.m. in the Marts Center.
