Wilkes suffers its first defeat of the 2015 season after picking up a pair of wins on day one of its spring break trip. Ryan Herbst (East Islip, NY/St. John the Baptist) tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second when he hit an RBI double scoring James Brown (Covington, PA/North Pocono). Kenyon then scored two runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead into the seventh. Nick Preston (Duryea, PA/Scranton Prep) added Wilkes second run of the game when he doubled home Brown in the top of the seventh frame. Jarrett Clymer added the Colonels second tally with his RBI groundout scoring Joshua Slocum (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) as Wilkes trailed 5-3 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning. From there Kenyon added three runs in the bottom half of the frame and held onto the five-run advantage of the final two innings of play. Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) led Wilkes at the plate going 3-for-4. Brown and Herbst each added two hits for the Colonels. Johnny Jan Jr. (Germantown, MD/Northwest) suffered the loss on the hill going five innings allowing eight hits and three earned runs. Tyler Piccotti (Taylor, PA/Riverside) and Thatcher David (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) saw time in relief for Wilkes combining for three innings allowing seven hits and five more runs.
