Smith's Twelve Points Powers Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Past SUNY Canton 19-14
 
CANTON, N.Y. – Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) tied a school-record posting 12 points to power visiting Wilkes University to a 19-14 victory at SUNY Canton Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.
 
Wilkes improves to 4-1 following the road victory, its third win away from home this season.
 
Smith continued her offensive tear during this early season run for Wilkes notching four of her team-high seven goals in the first half where Wilkes led 10-6. Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) added four goals for the Lady Colonels in the first stanza giving Wilkes its four-point cushion at the break.
 
After Canton scored the first goal of the second half cutting the Wilkes lead to three at 10-7, Kerr and Smith answered back with a flurry of goals scoring five straight between the two to push the Lady Colonels advantage back to 15-7 with 18:52 left in the game.
 
Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) added three goals and Samantha Lawlor (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) one during a four-goal stretch for Wilkes to put the game out of reach up 19-10 with just under five minutes remaining.
 
Smith finished with seven goals and five assists, her third straight 10+ point game this season. Kerr followed with six strikes and one assist. Brownsey chipped in four goals while Lawlor added two.
 
Kellie Kalada (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) recorded the win in the cage for Wilkes finishing with a season-high 19 saves.
 
Wilkes continues its road stretch Tuesday traveling to Alfred University for a non-league contest at 5:00 p.m.
