Wilkes slips to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play following the losses. Misericordia took a 2-0 lead early in game one using back-to-back doubles to plate the runs. Wilkes responded in the bottom half of the first inning when Lacey Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) connected on a three-run home run to right field scoring Christina Gambino (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) and Emily McGrath (Upper Darby, PA/Drexel Hill). The Cougars tied the game at 3-3 in the second with another double to left center scoring one on the play. Grace Sanzalone (Mountainside, NJ/Governor Livingstone) gave the Lady Colonels the advantage back for the second time in the bottom of the frame hitting a sacrifice fly. The game went scoreless over the next four innings before Misericordia broke open the game with two runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run single down the right field line. Gambino suffered the loss in the circle going all but the final out in the last of the seventh giving up eight hits and five runs. Misericordia took another early lead in game two 1-0 after its first at-bats. Bixler put Wilkes on the board tying the game at 1-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the frame and the Lady Colonels took the lead 2-1 when Mandy Seccia (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Both teams scored one run in the second frame with Wilkes keeping its advantage at 3-2 on an Alex Hoops (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) RBI single to right field. Misericordia's Andi Veneziale then connected on her second home run of the game, a two-run shot to propel the Cougars to a 4-3 lead after six. The lead would stick as Wilkes was unable to match the equalizer in its last two at-bats. Nicole Cumbo (Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) pitched all seven innings for Wilkes allowing 12 hits and four runs in the defeat in the circle. Wilkes travels to Williamsport, Pa.
