Lady Colonel Lacrosse Stretches Win Streak to Seven with 21-5 Victory Against Wells

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team raced out to a 16-3 lead at halftime and never looked back extending its win streak to seven games after posting a 21-5 victory against Wells College at Higgins Stadium on the campus of Ithaca College on Tuesday afternoon.

Wilkes improves to 8-1 overall, winners of its last seven games following the decision.

The Lady Colonels scored the games' first three goals before Wells answer with one strike to cut into the advantage at 3-1 with 26:01 left in the first half. From there, Wilkes rattled off 13 straight goals including four from Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) and three from Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) to take its decisive advantage to the break.

Five more Wilkes goals to start the second half put the game out of reach. It also marked the seventh straight contest that Wilkes has scored at least 18 goals on offense.

Brownsey posted a team-high six goals and one assist while Kerr added four goals on four shots.

Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) notched her third straight game with double figure points and sixth time this season finishing with 11 points on five goals and six assists. She also finished with a team-best seven ground balls in the field. Already the school's leader in points and assists, Smith needs just five more goals to become the all-time leader in the third offensive category in the program's history.

Kellie Kalada (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) earned the win in the cage for Wilkes making three saves while Heather Lorincz (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata) entered in relief finishing with one stop in just under five minutes.
