Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Upended 16-10 at Eastern
 
ST. DAVIDS, PA – Host Eastern University jumped out to a 10-6 lead at the break and held on to its advantage throughout the second half handing Wilkes University a 16-10 defeat Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference women's lacrosse action.
 
Wilkes slips to 8-5 overall and 0-4 in Freedom play following its fourth straight defeat.
 
Eastern raced out to a 3-0 lead with 26:38 on the first half clock before Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) put Wilkes on the board with her first of three strikes at the 23:50 mark.
 
Another Brownsey goal followed by a Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) tally kept Wilkes close 5-3 with 16:38 in the half.
 
Eastern then scored five of the games next eight goals to increase its lead to four goals at 10-6 at the break.
 
Another Kerr goal midway through the second frame brought the Lady Colonels to its closest margin of the day at 11-9, but Eastern capitalized on its offensive opportunities late scoring five of the games next six goals to close out the home victory.
 
Brownsey finished with three goals and one assist while Jaessica MacConchie also added three goals. Kerr posted two strikes  with Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) notching four assists.
 
Heather Lorincz (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata) suffered the defeat in net for Wilkes finishing with eight saves playing all 60 minutes.
 
Wilkes hosts Manhattanville College Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in a Freedom contest at Schmidt Stadium.
