EDWARDSVILLE – After falling 4-1 in game one, the Wilkes University softball team rallied for a 7-3 victory in game two to manage a split with visiting DeSales University Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

Wilkes finishes its conference season with a 10-20 overall record standing 4-10 in league games.

DeSales took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second using a solo home run from Carly Bartholomew and base hits from Smanatha Gibson and DJ McCauley.

Wilkes answered with a run in the bottom half of the second thanks to a solo home run from Brooke Limeberry (Easton, PA/Easton), her fourth long ball of the  year and second in as many games.

The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the fifth and shut down the Wilkes bats in the sixth and seventh to preserve the conference victory.

Down 1-0 after three innings in game two, Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) came through at the plate with a two-run double off the centerfield fence putting Wilkes up 2-1 in the fourth.

Wilkes then opened up the game in its last at-bats scoring five runs in the frame capped by an Alex Hoops (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) RBI single to centerfield.

Kim Jones (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) picked up the win in the circle entering in the fourth and finishing the game allowing two runs on four hits.

Between games, Wilkes honored its 2006 Freedom Conference championship team and three All-Americans in program history, Robyn Mendygral Hoban '01, Nadine Taylor Prutzman '06 and Laurie Agresti Mirra '07.
