Wilkes ends the 2015 season with an 18-20 record while Scranton drops to 21-13 entering their league playoffs. Joe Champi (Dupont, PA/Pittston) put the Colonels on the scoreboard with a solo shot in the top of the 2nd inning. Scranton took a 5-1 lead after four innings of play before Wilkes rallied scoring one run in the 5th and two in the top of the 6th to make it a 5-4 game. After Scranton added two runs in the bottom of the 6th to go up 7-4, Wilkes was able to get two back in the 7th after a Joshua Slocum (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) RBI double to center and a Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) double to left made it a 7-6 game. Tanner Smith (Upper Black Eddy, PA/Palisades) hit a game-tying sac fly in the top of the 8th scoring James Brown (Covington, PA/North Pocono) from third. Wilkes scored the game-winning run in the top of the 9th on an error the sixth unearned run allowed by Scranton on the day. Champi concluded his freshman year with a monster day from the plate going 4-for-5 with a home run, one RBI and three runs scored. Brown finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Senior Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) was 1-for-4 with two RBI's in his final collegiate game while Schappell finished with two hits, an RBI and a run scored in his last game. Marcus Leaf (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) went five innings on the hill allowing six hits, five runs (four earned) while striking out five. Jeff Roedell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) collected the win for the Colonels striking out one while allowing no runs or hits in two innings of relief. Print Friendly Version
