Wilkes Football Names Stengel, Ugwu, Paskas 2015 Team Captains
 
WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University head football coach Trey Brown has announced the selection of Tanner Stengel (Allentown, PA/Parkland), Jason Ugwu (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) and Michael Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) as the Colonels 2015 team captains.
 
All three upperclassmen will look to lead the Colonels back into Middle Atlantic Conference contention under second-year mentor Brown. The defensive trio was selected by teammates and coaches to lead the group highlighted by their commitment, pride and worth ethic on and off the field.
 
A returning second team All-MAC linebacker, Stengel showed his promise on the Colonels defense in 2014 finishing the season as the league's top tackler with 102 total stops in ten games played. He averaged over 10.2 tackles per-game recording 10.0 tackles-for-loss and 3.0 sacks from his middle linebacker position.
 
He finished the season with four straight double-digit tackle games including a career-high 15 tackles against Albright in week eight. Stengel posted at least six stops in every game this past season.
 
Ugwu earned his second Honorable Mention nod finishing his junior season with 31 tackles including nine coming for a loss. He also caused havoc for opposing quarterbacks posting four sacks while forcing and recovering one fumble in ten games played.
 
Paskas joined Stengel in the middle of the Wilkes defense as a linebacker finishing with 33 total tackles and one sack in ten games.
 
Wilkes opens up its 2015 season September 4th at Muhlenberg College at 7:00 p.m.
