Women's Soccer Battles to Scoreless Tie in Opener at Marywood
SCRANTON, PA. – The Wilkes University women's soccer team opened its season with a hard-fought 0-0 tie at Marywood University on Tuesday night.
Both teams' records now stand at 0-0-1 following the game.
Micaela Oliverio (Carlisle, PA/Trinity) tallied three shots for the Lady Colonels with two of those making it on net.
Dianna Connor (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) had seven shots with three of them forcing the Pacers goalkeeper to make a save.
Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) made four saves to earn her first shutout of the year. Aly Moyer made six saves for the Pacers to earn her first shutout as well.
Wilkes outshot Marywood 23-12 and had an extreme advantage in corner kicks 13-4.
The Lady Colonels return to action on Saturday for the Lady Colonel Classic when they host Rutgers-Newark at 1 p.m. at Ralston Athletic Complex.
