Volleyball Falls to Penn State-Berks and Keystone

READING, PA – The Wilkes University women's volleyball team lost by 3-1 finals to Penn State-Berks (19-25, 15-25, 25-14, 21-25) and Keystone College (26-28, 19-25, 25-18, 21-25) in Reading on Friday night.

The losses drop the Lady Colonels to 4-4 on the season, while the Nittany Lions improved to 1-4 and the Giants improved 5-1 with their wins, respectively.

Wilkes was led in the first match by junior Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford)' 10 kills, while sophomores Ellen Mook (Meadville, PA/Meadville) and Danica Benson (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) had nine each. Freshman Julia Winkle (South Wales, NY/Iroquois Central) led the way defensively with 21 digs, while Paskas had 18 and Benson had 13. Senior Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) contributed 43 assists.

In the night cap, the Lady Colonels were led again offensively by Paskas, who had 13 kills. Mook added 11 and junior Abby Sanders (Allentown, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) added 10. Winkle led the back line with 28 digs, with Paskas adding 16 and sophomore Alexis Morgan (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) contributing 11. Powers added 45 assists in the effort. Wilkes had a 53-44 kill advantage against Keystone.

The Lady Colonels return to action on Tuesday when they open Freedom Conference play at home against Misericordia, with a start time of 7 p.m. in the Marts Center.
