Volleyball Falls in Conference Opener
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's volleyball team lost its Freedom Conference opening match against Misericordia on Tuesday by a 3-1 (21-25, 15-25, 25-17, 23-25) score at the Marts Center.
The Lady Colonels fall to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in Freedom play, while the Cougars improved to 3-6 (1-0 FC).
Wilkes was led by junior outside hitter
Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) and sophomore opposite
Madison Scarfaro (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall), who had nine kills each. Junior outside hitter
Kayley Schinski (Plymouth, PA/Nanticoke) added five kills. Senior setter
Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) paced the Lady Colonels with 25 assists, while freshman libero
Julia Winkle (South Wales, NY/Iroquois Central) led the back line with 25 digs.
Wilkes returns to action on Friday when it will host Alfred State at 4 p.m. and Sarah Lawrence College at 8 p.m.
