Women's Soccer Falls in Double-Overtime
EDWARDSVILLE- The Wilkes University women's soccer team fought a tough battle at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but a header by Arcadia University in the 109
th minute was the deciding score in a 2-1 final.
The Lady Colonels fell to 2-5-1 with the loss while the Knights improved to 5-2 with the win.
Wilkes got on the board first in the 29th minute when senior forward
Grace Fazzi (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) won a fight for the ball in front of the net and was able to beat the Arcadia goalkeeper with a high shot.
The Knights were able to tie the score 1-1 right before the half in the 45
th minute.
The game remained tied throughout the end of regulation and the first overtime period, but Arcadia was able to put home the winning tally in the 109
th minute off of a corner kick that got headed into the net.

Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) made ten saves in the game.
Wilkes returns to action when it travels to Susquehanna on Thursday for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest and return home on Friday October 2
nd when it opens Freedom Conference play against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florence.
