EDWARDSVILLE- The Wilkes University women's soccer team fought a tough battle at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but a header by Arcadia University in the 109^th minute was the deciding score in a 2-1 final.

The Lady Colonels fell to 2-5-1 with the loss while the Knights improved to 5-2 with the win.

Wilkes got on the board first in the 29th minute when senior forward Grace Fazzi (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) won a fight for the ball in front of the net and was able to beat the Arcadia goalkeeper with a high shot.

The Knights were able to tie the score 1-1 right before the half in the 45^th minute.

The game remained tied throughout the end of regulation and the first overtime period, but Arcadia was able to put home the winning tally in the 109^th minute off of a corner kick that got headed into the net.

Lady Colonels' goalkeeper Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) made ten saves in the game.

Wilkes returns to action when it travels to Susquehanna on Thursday for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest and return home on Friday October 2^nd when it opens Freedom Conference play against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florence.
