Wilkes Volleyball Suffers 3-0 Freedom Loss Against FDU-Florham
 
WILKES-BARRE – Visiting FDU-Florham volleyball team rushed out to a 2-0 set lead then rallied late in the third set to post a 3-0 win over host Wilkes University in a Freedom Conference match Tuesday night in the Marts Center.
 
With the defeat Wilkes slips to 7-7 overall and 0-2 in league games. FDU-Florham improves to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in conference matchups.
 
The Devils opened the match with two wins by scores of 25-16 and 25-12. Wilkes responded in the third set taking a 25-24 lead late in the set thanks to a kill from Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford). From there, FDU-Florham added a kill and used a Lady Colonel attack error to take back the advantage up 26-25. After Wilkes tied the score again at 26, the Devils used two straight kills to take the two-point victory.
 
Paskas led the Wilkes attack with 12 kills and seven digs. Madison Scarfaro (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) followed with eight kills while Abby Sanders (Allentown, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) added six kills. Danica Benson (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) led the backline with 11 digs and Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) paced the passing game with 27 assists.
 
FDU-Florham received a match-high 13 kills from Melissa Gaffney to lead its attack.
 
Wilkes travels to Williamsport, Pa. Friday and Saturday to compete in the Warriors Tip-Off Classic hosted by Lycoming College. The Lady Colonels face Misericordia and Alfred State on Friday before matches with host Lycoming and the City College of New York on Saturday.
