Hasbrouck's Penalty Kick Score Leads Men's Soccer Past Stevenson
EDWARDSVILLE- Junior forward
Michael Hasbrouck (Vestal, NY/Vestal) converted a penalty kick for the only score the Wilkes University men's soccer team needed against Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
The Colonels improved to 2-6-0 with the win while the Mustangs fell to 3-6-1.
Hasbrouck was taken down inside the box in the 18
th minute , and was able to convert the corresponding penalty kick past the Stevenson goalkeeper for what would become the game-winning goal in a match that had both teams displaying plenty of emotion.
Neither team held an advantage in shots, with both teams attempting 10 and getting four on net. The Colonels held a seven to four advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman goalkeeper
Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) made four saves for his second shutout of the season.
Wilkes returns to action Wednesday when it will travel to the University of Scranton for a 4 p.m. non-conference match and will return home on Saturday October 3
rd to host FDU-Florham in its Freedom Conference-opening match at 7 p.m. during homecoming weekend.
