Volleyball Splits at Lycoming Tri-Match
WILLIAMSPORT, PA- The Wilkes University women's volleyball team split its two matches on Saturday, defeating the City College of New York 3-0 (25-13, 25-5, 25-21) and losing 3-0 (18-25, 8-25, 19-25) to Lycoming.
The Lady Colonels are now 9-9 on the season.
Wilkes was led offensively in the first match against the Warriors by sophomore middle hitter
Ellen Mook (Meadville, PA/Meadville), who had 12 kills. She was followed by junior outside hitter
Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) (six), and sophomore opposite hitter
Madison Scarfaro (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) (two).
Senior setter
Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) led the squad with 24 assists, while sophomore setter
Alexis Morgan (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) led the back line with 10 digs.
Wilkes was led in the second match against the Beavers by Scarfaro's eight kills, with junior outside hitter
Kayley Schinski (Plymouth, PA/Nanticoke) and sophomore outside hitter
Grace Boyle (Andreas, PA/Marian Catholic) both had six each.
Powers again led the team in assists with 15, while the back line was anchored by freshman setter
Julia Winkle (South Wales, NY/Iroquois Central)'s eight digs. Mook led the Lady Colonels with two blocks.
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Delaware Valley University for a 7 p.m. Freedom Conference match, and return home for a MAC-Crossover tri-match against Lycoming at 9 a.m. and Messiah at 3 p.m. during homecoming weekend.
