Volleyball Cruises to Victory at Delaware Valley
DOYLESTOWN, PA.- The Wilkes University women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-9) victory at Freedom foe Delaware Valley University on Wednesday night.
The Lady Colonels improved to 10-9 overall and 1-2 in Freedom play while the Aggies fell to 1-8 and 0-3, respectively.
The Lady Colonel attack was led by junior outside hitter
Abby Sanders (Allentown, PA/Northwestern Lehigh)' 10 kills. She was followed by sophomore middle hitter
Ellen Mook (Meadville, PA/Meadville) (nine) and sophomore outside hitter
Grace Boyle (Andreas, PA/Marian Catholic) (seven). Senior setter
Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) led the way with 36 assists.
Wilkes' back line was led by sophomore outside hitter
Danica Benson (Allentown, PA/Emmaus), who had 14 digs, followed by junior outside hitter
Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) and freshman libero
Julia Winkle (South Wales, NY/Iroquois Central), who had seven and four, respectively.
The Lady Colonels secured 43 kills to Delaware Valley's 17, and held a .360 hit percentage compared to -.039 for The Aggies.
Wilkes returns to action on Saturday when it will host a MAC Crossover with Messiah, Lycoming, and Misericordia. The Lady Colonels will face Lycoming at 9 a.m. and Messiah at 3 p.m.
