Surdy's Hat Trick Leads Wilkes Field Hockey Over Immaculata 4-0
 
IMMACULATA, PA – Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) scored three goals and added an assist as the Wilkes University field hockey team soared past host Immaculata University 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
 
Wilkes improves to 6-4 overall following the win while Immaculata remains winless at 0-10 after suffering the defeat.
 
Surdy began her scoring tear early in the first half tipping in a center pass from Keighlyn Oliver (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) to put the Lady Colonels up 1-0 6:26 into the frame. The Wilkes lead grew to 2-0 before the half when Surdy added her second of the day, this time off an assist from Alysa Adams (Sweet Valley, PA/Lake Lehman) at the 28:17 mark.
 
Taylor Ryan (Spotsylvania, VA/Courtland) added Wilkes' third goal when she took a pass from Surdy and found the back of the cage at the 52:01 mark of the second half. Surdy then concluded the Wilkes scoring completing her hat trick at 55:58 on another assist from Adams.
 
Wilkes held a decisive 27-6 shot advantage while garnering 11 penalty corners to Immaculata's four attempts.
 
Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) recorded the shutout in net making one save.
 
Wilkes returns home Saturday hosting DeSales University in a Freedom Conference matchup at 5:00 p.m. on Homecoming weekend.
