Ryan's OT Goal Lifts Field Hockey over Susquehanna
SELINGSGROVE, PA – Junior Forward
Taylor Ryan (Spotsylvania, VA/Courtland)'s goal in the 75th minute lifted the Wilkes University Field Hockey team over Susquehanna University on Saturday at the Connie Harnum Classic.
The Lady Colonels improved to 2-0 with the win while the Crusaders fell to 1-1.
Susquehanna held the offensive advantage in a scoreless first half, generating nine shots to the Wilkes' five. All five of the Lady Colonels' shots were on target, forcing Crusaders goalkeeper Alyssa Rothman to make five saves.
Wilkes struck first in the second half when senior forward
Savannah McCauley (York, PA/West York) scored unassisted in the 59
th minute.
The lead would stand for 10 minutes, when the Susquehanna notched the equalizer in the 69
th minute.
The score would stand for the rest of regulation. In the 75
th minute, Ryan dribbled around goalkeeper Rothman and shot into an empty net to give the Lady Colonels the win and send them into the Championship on Sunday.
Wilkes held an advantage in shots 18-16, with 13 of their attempts hitting the net as opposed to Susquehanna's nine.

Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) improved to 2-0 on the season for the Lady Colonels, making eight saves. Rothman falls to 1-1 on the season making 11 saves in the game.
Wilkes returns to action on Sunday for the championship of the Connie Harnum Classic at Susquehanna , where it will play Kean University at 1:30 p.m.
