Wilkes Field Hockey Falls 2-1 Against Kean in Connie Harnum Classic Championship
 
SELINSGROVE, PA – Kean University scored the game's first two goals and held on late after a furious Wilkes University rally to post a 2-1 victory over the Lady Colonels in the final of the Connie Harnum Classic hosted by Susquehanna University.
 
Wilkes suffered its first defeat of the season following the loss dropping to 2-1 on the year.
 
Marissa Robinson put Kean on the board first scoring at the 5:19 mark of the first half. Kean settled for the 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
 
Chelsea Mann then added to the Kean advantage scoring off an assist from Teresa Carr just five minutes into the second frame.
 
Wilkes responded cutting the lead in half at 2-1 when Alysa Adams (Sweet Valley, PA/Lake Lehman) notched her second collegiate goal off an assist from Haley Gayoski (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) with four minutes left to play. The Lady Colonels were unable to find the back of the cage for the equalizer over the next three minutes as Kean escaped with the victory.
 
Kean held a 19-12 shot advantage while Wilkes garnered 14 penalty corners to Kean's 12 attempts. Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) finished with eight saves in net for Wilkes while Katie DiCarlo stopped eight shots to record the win for Kean.
 
Wilkes returns to play on Thursday hosting Marywood University at 4:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
