Wilkes Men's Soccer takes Misericordia to Limit in 1-0 Overtime Defeat
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's soccer team matched Misericordia University for 91 minutes, but a header in the 92
nd minute sent the Cougars to a 1-0 overtime win over the Colonels in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday evening.
Wilkes fell to 3-11-0 overall and 1-3-0 in MAC Freedom play.
Misericordia outshot the Colonels for the duration of the game, but only a fraction of the shots attempted by the Cougars reached Wilkes' sophomore goalkeeper

The Colonels had their best scoring chance in the 83
rd minute when junior
Casey Ritsick (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) headed in a cross off of a free kick following a Misericordia foul, but Cougars' goalkeeper Matt Smith made a diving save on the goal line to keep the score at 0-0 at the end of regulation.
The Cougars ended the game in the 92
nd minute when they headed in a shot off of a throw in from the left side.
Gallagher made four saves in the game.
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Eastern for a 3:30 p.m. MAC Freedom matchup.
