Wilkes Field Hockey Suffers 2-0 Defeat to King's
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University field hockey team suffered a 2-0 defeat to crosstown rival King's College on Wednesday evening at Schmidt Stadium in a game that paired two teams vying for the top spot in the upcoming Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) tournament.
The Lady Colonels are now 3-2 in MAC Freedom play and 9-7 overall.
The Monarchs started the game on the offensive, outshooting Wilkes 8-0 in the first half and notched the opening score in the 32
nd minute.
The Lady Colonels outshot King's 6-4 in the second half and had a huge 8-2 advantage in penalty corners but were unable to put a shot past Monarch's goalkeeper Paige Tedik.
King's added an insurance goal in the 53
rd minute to reach the 2-0 final.
Wilkes finished with a 10-6 lead in penalty corners.

Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made six saves in the game.
The Lady Colonels return to action on Saturday when they travel to Delaware Valley for a 1 p.m. MAC Freedom contest.
