DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Wilkes University field hockey team scored four unanswered goals to defeat Delaware Valley University by a 4-2 final on Saturday afternoon in Doylestown. The win locked up a spot in the upcoming Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) tournament, with final seeding to be determined.

The Lady Colonels are now 4-2 in MAC Freedom play and 10-7 overall.

The Aggies opened the scoring in the 22nd minute and added to its lead in the 31st minute.

Wilkes did not panic, coming out of the half on fire as senior Taylor Ryan (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland) began the comeback in the 36th minute with an assist from sophomore Megan Kane (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West).

Kane tied the game in the 48th minute when she scored unassisted off of a rebound from junior Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood).

Junior Keighlyn Oliver (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) put the Lady Colonels on top in the 50th minute when Surdy crossed in front of the net and found her for a touch goal.

Sophomore Alysa Adams (Sweet Valley, PA/Lake Lehman) provided an insurance goal in the 53rd minute when she deflected a shot from Surdy past Delaware Valley's goalkeeper.

Sophomore Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made four saves in the game to back the victory.

Wilkes outshot the Aggies 14-9 with 10 of its shots reaching the target compared to six for Delaware Valley.

The Lady Colonels return to action on Tuesday when they host Elmira College for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest at Schmidt Stadium.
