Two Second Half Goals Lead Misericordia Over Wilkes Field Hockey 2-0
DALLAS, Pa. – Misericordia University scored two goals in the second half while shutting down the offense of the Wilkes University field hockey team in both teams Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) regular-season finale on Thursday evening.
The Lady Colonels finish their regular season 11-8 overall and 4-3 in MAC Freedom play.
Both teams took three shots in the first 35 minutes with Wilkes awarded two penalty corners compared to one for the Cougars.
The second half was a different story, with Misericordia taking 12 shots while holding the Lady Colonels to three. The Cougars scored their two goals in the 47
th and 65
th minutes.
Sophomore
Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made seven saves to keep Wilkes within striking distance.
The Lady Colonels finish the regular season as the fourth seed in the MAC Freedom tournament and will travel to FU-Florham on Wednesday. Wilkes was the lone MAC Freedom team to defeat the top-seeded Devils, winning 2-0 back on September 30
th at Schmidt Stadium. The time of the game is to be determined.
