Jones Finishes Second Overall as Wilkes Women's Cross Country Finishes Tenth
 
GRANTHAM, PA – Morgan Jones (Huntley, MT/Huntley Project) recorded the best finish in school history taking second overall as the Wilkes Women's Cross Country team finished tenth at the 2016 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship 6k on Saturday afternoon.
 
Wilkes totaled 275 team points at the event with 156 total runners.

Jones, who earned her second All-MAC honor finishing ninth at the championships last season as a rookie, crossed the line at 22:43.1, good for third all-time in the 6k in school history. The second place finish is the highest finish in the championships in school history.
 
Caroline Rickard (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) followed in 49th place with a time of 25:57.9. Kyleigh Smeltzer (Manchester, PA/Northeastern) finished at 27:23.7 for 85th place while Carmen Hillman (Urbana, OH/Graham School) came in at 28:30.6 for 99th place.
 
Moriah Teed (Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) crossed at 28:57.8 for 108th place, Kaitlyn Sitch (Weatherly, PA/MMI Prep) at 29:30.3 for 118th place and Amanda Beck (Goshen, NY/Goshen Central) at 30:36.7 for 130th place.
 
Carly Hein (Northampton, PA/Northampton) (131st/30:38.2), Alexis Nicholson (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) (134th/30:55) and Taylor Arnold (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) (150th/34:28.2) rounded out the Lady Colonel finishers at the event.
 
Wilkes concludes its season on Saturday, November 12 running at the NCAA Mideast Regional hosted by DeSales University starting at 12:30 p.m.
