Wilkes Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 at FDU-Florham
MADISON, N.J. – The Wilkes University women's soccer team outshot and had more corner kicks than FDU-Florham, but were unable to convert an opportunity into a goal as it fell by a 1-0 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action on Friday evening.
The Lady Colonels are now 2-9 overall and 1-1 in MAC Freedom play.
Wilkes finished the game with 16 shots compared to 13 for the Devils with seven hitting their target but FDU-Florham goalkeeper Annie George was up to the task on this night. The Lady Colonels finished with a 3-2 edge in corner kicks as well.
The Devils scored the game's lone goal in the 18
th minute off of a corner kick.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Courtney Stanley (Yardville, NJ/Steinert) kept Wilkes in the game with five saves.
The Lady Colonels return to action on Wednesday when they travel to cross-town rival King's for a 5 p.m. MAC Freedom contest.
