Wilkes Women's Volleyball Splits Matches on Day One of Lycoming Tournament
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Wilkes University volleyball team split a pair of matches on day one of the Lycoming College Tip-Off Tournament on Friday afternoon. Wilkes posted a 3-0 sweep of Penn College in its first match before falling 3-0 to Gettysburg College in the nightcap.
Wilkes moves to 9-13 overall following the two-match day.
Wilkes took the match against Penn in straight sets winning 25-20, 25-20 and 25-17.
Jamey Mikovich (Nesquehoning, PA/Panther Valley) led the way with a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs in the win.
Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) followed with nine kills and 11 digs while
Grace Boyle (Andreas, PA/Marian Catholic) finished with six kills.
Alexis Morgan (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) paced the passing game with 29 assists on 36 Wilkes' total kills.
Juliet Betke (Poplar Grove, IL/Belvidere North) added a season-high four service aces.
Gettysburg used three sets to finish off Wilkes in its second match of the day by scores of 25-8, 25-16 and 25-12.
Madison Scarfaro (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) led the way offensively in the match with four kills. Morgan posted two kills and 11 assists. Betke anchored the backline with 12 digs.
Wilkes concludes play at the tournament tomorrow (Saturday) with matches against Alfred State at 10:00 a.m. and University of Rochester at 12:00 p.m.
