Five Different Devils Score in 5-0 Win Over Wilkes Men's Soccer
MADISON, NJ – Host FDU-Florham saw five different goal scorers in a 5-0 shutout victory over Wilkes University in MAC Freedom men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes drops to 3-9 overall and 1-1 in league matches following the road defeat. FDU-Florham improves to 3-6-3 overall and 1-1 in conference games after posting the win.
FDU wasted little time taking the lead as Jay Bower scored off a rebound to put the Devils up 1-0 just 2:55 into the first half. Just four minutes later the lead grew to 2-0 when Robby Bonjione scored his third tally of the season when his shot hit the post and caromed into the net.
FDU added three unanswered goals in the second half at the 42:04, 53:03 and 56:52 marks respectively to seal the conference home victory.
FDU held a 22-10 shot advantage with only two Colonel attempts coming on net. Both teams garnered five corner kick attempts.
Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) made four saves in 53 minutes while
Ryan Shiner (Landisville, PA/Hempfield) entered in relief to post three saves.
Wilkes returns to MAC Freedom play Tuesday with a matchup at cross-town rival King's College at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
