Wilkes Field Hockey Falls 3-2 at Manhattanville
PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Wilkes University field hockey team was upended by a 3-2 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action at Manhattanville College on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Colonels fell to 2-1 in MAC Freedom play and 8-5 overall.
Senior
Maura Anistranski (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) got Wilkes on the board in the eighth minute when she converted a penalty stroke opportunity.
The Valiants countered with goals in the 15
th and 32
nd minutes to take a 2-1 lead.
Freshman
Gianna Gennetts (West Pittston, PA/Wyoming Area) continued her exceptional freshman season with the tying goal in the 37
th minute when she scored with an assist from sophomore
Megan Kane (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West).
Manhattanville notched the game-winner in the 62
nd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made two saves in goal for the Lady Colonels.
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Widener University for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.
