Early Deficit Dooms Men's Basketball at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -  Delaware Valley led by 16 at the half after leading by as much as 21 and never trailed as they defeated the Wilkes University men's basketball team by a 72-60 final on Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops the Colonels to 11-12 and 6-6 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play.

The Aggies jumped out to a 30-9 lead with 8:29 left in the first half to secure the largest lead of the game at 21. Delaware Valley entered the half with a 42-26 lead.

With the Aggies holding a 55-40 lead with and 13:31 remaining in the game, Wilkes mounted a comeback, going on a 19-9 run to cut the deficit to five at 64-59 with 2:13 left, but it is the closest the Colonels would come the rest of the game.

Wilkes was led by Marcus Robinson (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) who finished with 19 points and seven rebounds. Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) finished with 13 points and five rebounds, and Connor Evans (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) finished with 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Delaware Valley was led by Chris Moran, who finished with 29 points and nine rebounds. Barry Brockington (11 points, six rebounds), and Tyliek Kimbrough (10 points, six rebounds) round out the double-figure scorers.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Madison, N.J. to take on Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham for an 8 p.m. MAC Freedom matchup.
