EDWARDSVILLE- Senior Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) scored just 11 seconds into overtime, her fourth goal of the game, to lead the Wilkes University women's lacrosse team past Houghton College by an 8-7 final on Friday night at Schmidt Stadium.

The Lady Colonels improved to 2-0 with victory.

Houghton scored the first two goals of the game at 23:42 and a man-up goal at 15:02.

Junior Callie Flowers (Lexington Park, MD/Leonardtown) got Wilkes on the board in the 16^th minute on her first goal of the season with an assist from senior Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon). Brownsey tallied her first goal of the game in the 19^th minute with an assist from senior Melanie Rivera (Middletown, NY/Middletown) to tie the score at two.

The Highlanders scored the next three goals in the 28^th, and two in the 33^rd minute to take a 5-2 lead with 26:14 remaining in the second half.

Sophomore Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) cut Houghton's lead to two in the 34^th minute unassisted but Houghton scored 34 seconds later to regain the three-goal advantage.

Brownsey trimmed the deficit to one with an unassisted goal in the 39^th minute and in the 41^st minute on an assist from Held.

The Highlanders put one in in the 44^th minute, but the Lady Colonels came storming back when Rivera scored with an assists from Brownsey in the 48^th minute, freshman Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) scored unassisted in the 51^st minute to tie the game, setting the stage for Brownsey's overtime winner.

Freshman Tabitha Gravius (Howell, NJ/Manalapan) made 10 saves to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Wilkes returns to action tomorrow when they host Moravia at 1 p.m.
