Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Suffers Loss to SUNY Canton
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team was unable to stop Canton senior midfielder Robyn Carroll and the rest of the Kangaroo's offense, suffering a 19-9 loss at Schmidt Stadium on Sunday morning.
The Lady Colonel's are now 5-2 on the season.
Canton jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring three goals in 30 seconds. Wilkes fought back to make the score 6-4 in the 12
th minute, but the Kangaroo's outscored Wilkes 13-5 the rest of the game to secure the victory.
The Lady Colonels were led by sophomore
Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon), who finished the game with four goals and two assists. Senior
Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) scored three goals and sophomore
Samantha Lawlor (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) tallied two goals.
Carroll finished the game with eight goals and four assists for Canton, who saw 11 different players notch at least one point.
Freshman
Tabitha Gravius (Howell, NJ/Manalapan) finished with nine saves for Wilkes.
The Lady Colonels return to action on Tuesday when they will host Alfred University for a 6 p.m. non-conference game at Schmidt Stadium.
