Brownsey, Held Lead Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Past Alfred 13-7
EDWARDSVILLE –
Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) and
Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) combined for 10 of the Lady Colonels 13 goals as Wilkes University posted a 13-7 victory over visiting Alfred University Tuesday night at Schmidt Stadium.
Wilkes snaps a two-game skid improving to 6-2 overall following the home win. Alfred drops to 3-4 overall after the defeat.
Brownsey scored two of her game-high six goals in the first half as Wilkes led 4-2 after thirty minutes of play.
Two more Brownsey goals in the first minute of the second half pushed the lead to four and Held added all four of her strikes in the second half to lead the Lady Colonels to their six victory of the season. Wilkes never trailed in the contest thanks to nine second half goals.
Tabitha Gravius (Howell, NJ/Manalapan) finished with seven saves on way to the win in net for Wilkes.
Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) added two goals and three assists while
Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) notched Wilkes' final tally of the night.
Wilkes remains idle through the holiday break before returning home March 31 when the Lady Colonels host The College at Old Westbury at 6:30 p.m.
