Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Falls at Gwynedd-Mercy 18-4
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – Host Gwynedd-Mercy outscored Wilkes University 9-2 in each half on way to an 18-4 victory in non-conference action Tuesday night.
Wilkes falls to 0-6 overall following the loss while Gwynedd-Mercy improves to 3-3 on the season after the home victory.
Wilkes received first half goals from
Matthew Bush (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) and
Jeremy Kachel (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) one in each quarter of play.
John Wink (Glenside, Pa./Abington) added the assist on Bush's first quarter goal at the 2:49 mark cutting the lead to 4-1 after one.
Kachel added his second tally of the game late in the fourth quarter before
Max Brown (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) notched his fourth goal of the season off a helper from Kachel to end the Colonel scoring in the contest.
Kachel finished with a team high two goals and one assist.
JT Weitzel (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) added a team-high three ground balls.
Brian Manning (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) played all but 2:50 in net for Wilkes finishing with 21 saves.
John Malley (Jefferson Twp., N.J./Jefferson Twp.) entered in relief posting two stops.
Wilkes returns home Friday hosting Moravian College at 4:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
