Women's Lacrosse Opens Season with Big Win at Cedar Crest
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team opened its 2016 campaign with a 19-1 win at Cedar Crest College on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Colonels are now 1-0 on the season.
Wilkes opened the scoring 41 seconds in when
Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) took a
Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) pass and deposited a shot past the Falcons goalkeeper to pick up where she left off last season. The Lady Colonels went on to score 13 goals in the first half, and finished the game scoring six more in the second half.
Wilkes was led by Kerr, who finished with four goals and six assists for 10 points, and also led the team with seven draw controls and six ground balls. Brownsey totaled seven goals and one assists and
Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) added two goals in her first collegiate contest.
Tabitha Gravius (Howell, NJ/Manalapan) earned the win in her first collegiate start.
The Lady Colonels return to action on Friday when they face Houghton College in their home opener at Schmidt Stadium with a 7 p.m. start time.
