Wilkes Men's Soccer Falls 3-2 in Overtime to Moravian
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 lead but surrendered three unanswered goals, including the overtime game-winner, to fall 3-2 to Moravian College at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Colonels fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss.
Freshman
Kyle Bentz (Camp Hill, PA/Camp Hill) got Wilkes on the board in the 21
st minute when he corralled a corner from senior
Michael Hasbrouck (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and put a shot into the lower right corner past the Greyhound goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead.
Hasbrouck followed with a goal of his own in the 49
th minute to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.
Moravian netted its first goal in the 68
th minute on a header off of a corner kick to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Greyhounds tied the game on an unassisted goal in the 75
th minute.
Moravian ended the game in the 98
th minute on an unassisted goal to win by a 3-2 final.
Sophomore
Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) made six saves in the contest.
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday when it will host Clarks Summit University for a 7 p.m. non-conference match at Schmidt Stadium.
