Wilkes Women's Volleyball Goes 1-1 at Keystone Tri-Match
LA PLUME, PA – The Wilkes University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Keystone College tri-match Saturday afternoon recording a 3-1 win over Penn State Berks after falling to the host Giants 3-1.
Wilkes evens its overall record at 4-4 following the two-match day.
Wilkes took a 2-0 lead over PSU Berks with wins of 25-20 and 25-21 before falling 25-14 in the third set. The Lady Colonels rebounded quickly posting a match-sealing 25-21 win in set four.
Jamey Mikovich (Nesquehoning, PA/Panther Valley) led all Wilkes attackers with 11 kills and ten digs, the second double-double of her young career.
Grace Boyle (Andreas, PA/Marian Catholic) added seven kills and ten digs while
Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) contributed six kills and six digs.
Alexis Morgan (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) paced the passing game with 29 assists while leading four Wilkes players with 10+ digs posting 11 in the four-set match.
Wilkes trailed after falling in the first set to host Keystone before posting a 25-20 win in set two. The Giants then took sets three and four by scores of 25-17 and 25-23 to claim the match.
Three Lady Colonels reached double digit kills including 11 kills each from Paskas and Mikovich. Boyle followed with ten kills and 11 digs. Morgan finished with a match-high 31 assists.
Wilkes opens MAC Freedom play Wednesday when the Lady Colonels travel to defending conference champion Eastern University for a match at 7:00 p.m.
