Wilkes Field Hockey Falls 4-1 at No. 20 Alvernia
READING, Pa. - The Wilkes University field hockey team fell by a 4-1 final at No. 20 Alvernia University on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Colonels are now 4-3 on the season following the defeat.
The Cursaders got on the board in the 2
nd minute and took a 2-0 lead in the 11
th minute.
Freshman
Gianna Gennetts (West Pittston, PA/Wyoming Area) got Wilkes on the board in the 40
th minute with an unassisted goal.
Alvernia added two more goals in the 53
rd and 59
th minutes to finish the scoring.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made nine saves in the contest while freshman
Amber Grohowski (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) added a defensive save.
The Lady Colonels return to action on Wednesday when they host Immaculata University for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
