Wilkes Field Hockey Falls in Season Opener to Kean 5-1
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Wilkes University field hockey team opened its season at the Connie Harnum Memorial Classic hosted by Susquehanna University against Kean University on Friday afternoon, falling by a 5-1 final.
The Lady Colonels are now 0-1 on the season.
Kean jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring goals in the 21
st, 25
th, and 44
th minute.
Senior
Maura Anistranski (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) deposited her first goal of the season for Wilkes from an assist by junior
Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood).
The Cougars finished the scoring with goals in the 49
th and 54
th minutes.
Lady Colonels' sophomore goalkeeper
Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made nine saves in the game.
Wilkes returns to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. where they will face either Eastern Connecticut State or Susquehanna in the consolation game.
