MOOSIC, PA – The Wilkes University men's golf team opened its 2016-17 fall campaign finishing in third place in a tri-match with host University of Scranton and Marywood University on Tuesday afternoon at the Glenmaura National Golf Club.
 
Wilkes shot a combined 371 on the par 71 course while Marywood finished second at 350 and host Scranton first with a team score of 314.
 
John Scalese (Medford, NY/Patchogue-Medford) led all Wilkes finishers carding a 91 for ninth place. Alex Anderson (Bear Creek, PA/Coughlin) finished tenth shooting a 92 while Eric Geiger (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Schuylkill Haven) and Corey Hauser (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) each finished with a 94 on the day tying for eleventh place.
 
Griffin Luba earned medalist honors for Scranton shooting a match-low two-over 73.
 
Wilkes gets back to the course September 15 when the Colonels host Misericordia University at 1:00 p.m. at Huntsville Golf Club.
