Wilkes Men's Volleyball Goes 0-3 at Arcadia Quad-Match
GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team went 0-3 in an extremely close quad-match at Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon, falling to Lancaster Bible College 3-0 (20-25, 22-25, 21-25), Arcadia 3-0 (20-25, 34-36, 20-25), and Cairn University 3-0 (19-25, 27-29, 22-25).
The Colonels fell to 2-3 on the season.
In the first match against LBC, Wilkes' attack was led by sophomore
John Pietrzyk (Glen Lyon, Pa./Nanticoke)'s 13 kills. Sophomore
Jones Mensah (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and senior senior
Dylan Smith (York, Pa./Dallastown) finished with five kills each. Junior
Daniel Sales (Laflin, Pa./James M. Coughlin) led the passing game with 28 assists. Sophomore
Kyle Price (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) led the back line with nine digs while Smith finished with six. Mensah and Sales led the front line with three blocks each.
Against Arcadia, the Colonels attack was led again by Pietrzyk, who finished with 10 kills, followed by Smith with seven and freshman
Thomas Bogarowski (Hanover, Pa./Hanover)'s six. Sales again led the passing attack with 28. Smith led the back line with 12 digs while Sales added six and Bogarowski. Mensah and senior
Mike Morrison (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) led the front line with three blocks each.
In the finale against Cairn, Bogarowki paced the offense with six kills with Pietrzyk and Morrison contributing five each while Sales finished with 22 assists. Smith finished with 12 digs, ahead of Price (nine) and Bogarowski (seven). Sales added two blocks.
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Lancaster, Pa. for a tri-match with Lancaster Bible and York College (NY) at 6 p.m.
