Wilkes Women's Volleyball Falls in Three Sets at King's
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's volleyball team travelled cross-town to King's College where it fell in three sets 15-25, 25-27, 13-25 on Tuesday evening in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom action.
The Lady Colonels fell to 4-14 overall and 0-4 in MAC Freedom play.
The Monarch's jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the first set en route to the 25-15 win.
In the second set, Wilkes held a multiple point lead as late as 22-20 but were unable to close the set as King's took game two 27-25.
The Monarch's jumped out to a 5-0 lead in set three to win the final game 25-13.
Jamey Mikovich (Nesquehoning, PA/Panther Valley) led the Lady Colonels with 13 kills.
Kayley Schinski (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) finished with eight while
Madison Scarfaro (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) added five.
Alexis Morgan (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) totaled 29 assists. Mikovich and
Juliet Betke (Poplar Grove, IL/Belvidere North) tied with 12 digs while
Shayna Fehrle (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) had eight.
Wilkes returns to action on Thursday when it will host Lancaster Bible College for a non-conference match at the Marts Center starting at 7:00 p.m. The match will be Colonels for Pediatric Cancer Night.
